Variations on a Theme by Robert Frost

When the end of the world is apparent
The forces of nature in Chaos’ bitter swing
Frost chose fire
Fire is quick
Fire Is fast, and not fastidious
That honor would belong to ice
An encroaching, cosmic terror
The Iceman Cometh.
The world has changed
The cosmos bring their own
Brand of death.
Molecules stretched thin by gravity’s grip
Embracing these ancient terrors
I think fire or ice would be fine.
